Gyeongdan, rice ball

Gyeongdan is a rice cake, tteok. Unlike western cakes, tteok is made without dairy products such as butter, cream and milk. Gyeongdan is maybe the easiest tteok to prepare. It has a form of small dumpling, cooked in the water and coated with delicious powders of different ingredients.
 


Gyeongdan (Serves 2)

1 cup (100g) glutinous rice powder, 100g cake piece (plain),
1 Tbsp green tea powder, 1 Tbsp cinnamon powder, 1 Tbsp black/ white sesame seeds.

Seasonings: little salt, 1 Tbsp sugar

Preparation:
1. Grate the cake to make fine cake crumbs, divide in three portions
2. Mix one portion with green tea powder, another with cinnamon, reserve the other.


3. Put black/white sesame seed in a dish or ball.
4. Mix the glutinous rice powder, salt and sugar with water to make dough.
5. Make balls (of 1.5 cm) with the dough (from 1).



Cooking:
1. Boil the water, put the balls cook them until they float on the surface.
2. Drain the balls with a help of perforated spoon in batches.
3. Put several balls in the different powders and sesame seed to coat them.

Presentation:
Arrange the coated balls in a dish.
